About

Free tone is a series of Trytone releases focused on improvised music.

Improvised music not only as an specific art-creation form, but also as an esthetic result.

Created and curated in 2013 by Marcos Baggiani within the Trytone catalog, it is the idea of this serie to help and attest the growth of the new impro scene in the Netherlands and Europe,  opening a specific corner in the spectrum of the Trytone releases.

Trytone is a musicians collective at its core. Started in 1999, it has been developing different activities as a label, as a festival organizer  and as a concert promoter; helping to shape the modern creative music field in the Netherlands and in Europe.

Because of that, it grew into one of the most important "underground" labels of the Netherlands, with more than 50 selected releases related to "New Ways of Jazz" and other creative styles.

The goal of FreeToneSeries is to establish a catalog that speaks to the free improvised music lovers and followers; a very specific and exigent listener.
In this times where the music industry and the governments of many countries seem to reject any "non commercial" developments, musicians have to come together in order to survive the changes and keep on producing "art" instead of "commodities"

FreeToneSeries is an effort to achieve this, to say, to create diversity and visibility without loosing cohesion of a collective effort.
